Background information: This star belongs to the Circinus constellation. Alpha Circini is 10 times brighter and has a mass over 1 1/2 times greater than our sun. Circinus was first discovered by Nicolas Louis de Lacaille in 1756 and its name in Latin is "compass." Within the constellation is a spiral galaxy.
